Try It On

Try It On is back for a fourth year and the lively, lovely three-day artist workshop is a great time to be on the mountain. We have gathered some of our favorite teachers and friends of Wildacres to provide excellent instruction: printmaking, pottery, acrylic painting, creative watermedia, writing short fiction, photography, songwriting, and storytelling.

In this expressive arts institute, we will engage in individual and community art-making to explore the practice of attending to the creative process in life and in therapy. Studio workshops integrating clay, visual arts, movement, poetry, music, writing, ecotherapy, ritual, and performance invite artistic inquiry and renewal.

Black Light Mine Tour (evening 9pm)

Looking for an experience that’s “out of this world”? Emerald Village offers night-time underground mine tours that unlock vibrant hidden colors available only under ultraviolet light, commonly called black light. The brilliant coatings in the Bon Ami Mine are largely deposits of Hyalite Opal, a true form of opal found in this area. Under shortwave ultraviolet light, these coatings fluoresce or glow a vivid lime green. The effect, underground at night, is stunning!
